Notte di San Lorenzo
Non dimenticate di alzare gli occhi al cielo stasera: è "la Notte di San Lorenzo"!
La notte del 10 agosto è tradizione italiana passare la notte all'aperto, guardare il cielo ed esprimere un desiderio su una delle stelle cadenti affermando: "Stella, mia bella stella, desidero che... " (Stella, mia bella stella, vorrei che... ).
La tradizione della Notte di San Lorenzo ricorda la festa del martirio di San Lorenzo, avvenuta durante le persecuzioni dei cristiani da parte dell'imperatore romano Valeriano il 10 agosto del 258 d.C.
L'annuale doccia meteoritica Perseide coincide con questa festa cattolica e, di conseguenza, con la caduta delle meteore che scorre nel cielo a ferragosto sono spesso indicate come le "lacrime di San Lorenzo".
La Notte di San Lorenzo ha anche ispirato il pluripremiato film del 1982 sulla seconda guerra mondiale.

On the night of August 10, it is an Italian tradition to spend the night outside, look at the sky, and make a wish on one of the shooting stars by stating, "Stella, mia bella stella, desidero che…" (Star, my beautiful star, I wish that…).
The tradition of the Night of San Lorenzo commemorates the Feast Day of the martyrdom of Saint Lawrence, which occurred during Roman Emperor Valerian's persecutions of Christians on August 10 in 258 A.D.
The annual Perseid Meteor Shower coincides with this Catholic festival and, as a result, the falling meteors streaking through the sky in mid-August are often referred to as the "tears of San Lorenzo".
La Notte di San Lorenzo even inspired the award-winning 1982 film on WWII by the same name.
